What if it really were that simple?

There are seasons in life when I find myself paying closer attention.
Not because something is wrong.
Not because I have all the answers.
But because I can feel something shifting.

Lately, I've been observing the world around me with curious eyes. My own life. The people I love. The conversations happening in my community. The collective energy that seems to move beneath everything.

And what I keep noticing is this...
Many of us are carrying so much. So much information. So much responsibility. So much noise. So much pressure to keep up, figure it out, stay informed, stay productive, stay ahead. And yet beneath all of that, I sense a deeper longing. A longing to return to something simpler. Not easy. Simple. There is a difference.

As we moved through the recent Sagittarius Full Moon, I found myself reflecting on the bigger picture. Sagittarius invites us to seek meaning, wisdom, and truth. It asks us to look beyond the immediate circumstances of our lives and consider what truly matters.

And the question that kept returning to me was...
What are we feeding?
Not just with food. But with our thoughts. Our attention. Our energy. Our hearts. Because what we feed grows. Fear grows when it is fed. Anger grows when it is fed. Division grows when it is fed. But so does compassion. So does kindness. So does hope. So does love. This doesn't mean we ignore reality or pretend challenges don't exist. It means we consciously choose where we place our focus.

I often say that I choose peace.

Do I feel peaceful every day? Of course not. I'm human. I have worries. I have responsibilities. I have moments when I feel uncertain, overwhelmed, or tired. But peace is not something I wait to feel. It's something I practice. Again and again. One breath at a time. One choice at a time.

Recently, I participated in a beautiful Bodhisattva-inspired Kundalini practice led by a teacher I deeply respect. As I sat with the practice, I found myself returning once again to the energy of Quan Yin. For as long as I can remember, Quan Yin has been a companion on my path. Her compassion. Her softness. Her willingness to sit beside suffering without trying to force it away. There is something profoundly healing about being met without judgment. Not fixed. Not corrected. Not rushed. Simply loved.

And perhaps that is what many of us are truly seeking. Not more information. Not more opinions. Not more things. But a deeper experience of connection. To ourselves. To one another. To something greater.

I sometimes laugh because I know my life may seem a little unconventional to some. I  love sitting gazing at the trees, birds and squirrels. I chant mantras. I meditate. I keep images of Buddha, Ganesha, and Quan Yin nearby as daily reminders that I am more than my to-do list, more than my worries, and more than the roles I play. For some, that may seem strange.

But I often wonder...
Why?
Why is it strange to remember that we have a soul?
Why is it strange to slow down?
Why is it strange to value presence over productivity?
Why is it strange to believe that compassion matters?

And perhaps an even better question:
Who decided that it was?

Somewhere along the way, many of us were taught that success means accumulation. More money. More recognition. More achievements. More certainty. Yet when I imagine the end of this human journey, I don't believe those things will be what matter most. I think we'll remember the people who touched our hearts. The moments that changed us. The courage it took to be ourselves. The kindness we offered. The love we received. The beauty we stopped long enough to notice. The lessons that transformed us. The connections that reminded us we belonged.

Perhaps the collective shift so many of us are sensing isn't about creating more. Perhaps it's about remembering. Remembering what is essential. Remembering what nourishes us. Remembering what makes us human. And maybe, just maybe, it really is that simple.

As we move into this new month, I invite you to pause for a moment and ask yourself:
What am I feeding?
What am I giving my attention to?
What truly matters to me?
And what would change if I trusted that simplicity and love are not weaknesses—but wisdom?

May we choose what nourishes our hearts.
May we remember our connection to one another.
May we meet ourselves with compassion.
And may we trust that even the smallest acts of love create ripples far beyond what we can see.

With love and many blessings,
Donna ✨
